Postpartum is beautiful, emotional but very demanding. There is a baby to care for, a body recovering, very little sleep, and suddenly not much time left to think about what you're going to eat. And yet, this is one of the moments when being well fed and cared for matters most.

That's where Chefpost will help you make your life easier and better during this special time. Your chef handles the meal planning, the grocery shopping, the ingredients, the cooking, the portioning and the cleanup, so nourishing food is already there when you need it.

Homemade. Prepared the way you like it. Ready for the days ahead. One more thing off your list during a season when your time and energy are needed somewhere else.

I wish I had this when I had my babies

Chefpost didn't exist when I became a mom, and I really wish it had. I was incredibly lucky to have my mom helping me during that first month. She knew there was no way I was going to be cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner while recovering and taking care of a newborn, so she would come early every morning, make breakfast and lunch, and leave dinner ready for my husband and me. It was an enormous help. But it was also a lot for her.

And as grateful as you are when someone you love is taking care of you, you also don't want to say: actually, I don't really feel like eating that today. Or: can we change this? Because she's your mom. Not your personal chef.
Diana Arango, mom of two and co-founder of Chefpost

A menu built around you, and no one else

A personal chef's job is to prepare food around you. What you like. What sounds good that week. What feels comforting. What works for your family. And all the little preferences that can change so much during postpartum.

If you're breastfeeding, your appetite and your baby's preferences may shift too, and your chef can adjust the menu based on what you tell us feels right for you.

You don't have to feel bad asking. You don't have to accommodate anyone else. You just get to be taken care of.

As a mom of two, I genuinely believe this is one of the best things a new mom can give herself: good food, less mental load, and one less thing to worry about during such a beautiful, and very demanding, season. We feel incredibly honored to be able to help you during this special time.

Because postpartum meal prep isn't just for Mom

The baby arrives. Everyone else in the house keeps eating. Your chef can prepare meals for Mom while also helping feed your partner, older children and anyone else at home. Just add the number of servings you would like to include when you book.

  • Breakfast ready after a sleepless night.
  • Lunch you can grab while holding a baby.
  • A dinner everyone can sit down and eat together.
  • A refrigerator that doesn't require another decision.

Postpartum meal prep FAQs

The questions new and expecting parents ask us most.

What is postpartum meal prep?
Postpartum meal prep is the preparation of meals ahead of time for a new parent and household during the weeks after having a baby. With Chefpost, you book the postpartum meal-prep experience online and we match you with a vetted personal chef based on your location, schedule and preferences. Your chef brings the ingredients, prepares the meals in your home, portions and stores them, labels them when appropriate and cleans the kitchen before leaving.
Is this the same as postpartum meal delivery?
No. Postpartum meal delivery ships pre-made meals from a central kitchen. Chefpost sends a vetted chef to your home to cook for your household specifically, using ingredients they bring, around your preferences and dietary needs, and the chef cleans the kitchen before leaving.
Can I hire a private chef after having a baby?
Yes. Chefpost makes it easy to book in-home postpartum meal prep directly online. Choose your preferred date and time, share your food preferences during booking, and Chefpost will match you with the best available vetted chef for your needs.
Do I have to choose my own chef?
You can. Just add your preferred chef in the additional notes box when you make the booking online. We'll do our best to match you with your preferred chef, or the best available vetted chef based on your location, selected date and time, and food preferences. If you have a special request or would like more personalized assistance, our Concierge is also available to help.
How much does postpartum meal prep with a private chef cost?
One Chefpost postpartum meal-prep session is $450 all-inclusive. That includes the ingredients, grocery sourcing, curated postpartum meal plan, in-home private chef service, meal preparation for one person, portioning, labeling and kitchen cleanup. Each additional person is $50.
Are groceries included?
Yes. Chefpost postpartum meal prep is an all-inclusive service and includes grocery shopping and groceries for 10 dishes. Your chef handles the ingredients and arrives ready to cook, so there is no grocery shopping or ingredient coordination for you to manage.
How many servings are included?
The standard postpartum meal-prep experience includes one serving of each meal. If your household needs additional servings you can add those to your booking.
Can my postpartum chef cook for my spouse and children too?
Yes. Postpartum meal prep can be designed around the household, not only Mom. Share your household needs and food preferences during booking so your chef can prepare meals that work for the people eating at home.
Can meals be customized for dietary restrictions?
Yes. During booking, you can share allergies, dietary restrictions, foods you avoid and other preferences. Your chef will use that information when planning your session.
Can I request organic ingredients?
Yes. If organic ingredients are important to you, add that preference during booking. Additional ingredient costs may apply depending on specific requests and menu selections.
Can postpartum meal prep be gifted?
Yes. Postpartum meal prep can be gifted to a friend, family member, employee or client. You don't need to know their exact menu or final cooking date. Our concierge can help coordinate those details with the recipient. See gift cards.
When should I book postpartum meal prep?
You can book before your due date or once your baby arrives. Because babies don't always arrive exactly according to schedule, our team can help if timing needs to be adjusted. We just need 48 hours notice.
How many weeks should I book postpartum meal prep?
Some families book one session, week by week. Others prefer weekly support during the first four to six weeks at home. Our four-week package is designed for families who want consistent meal support during that early period, so they don't have to book every week, plus you get the benefits and discounts of our VIP Club. And if you love having meals taken care of, you can continue with Chefpost's regular weekly meal-prep service afterward.
Is Chefpost postpartum meal prep medical or nutritional care?
No. Chefpost provides personal chef and meal-preparation services, not medical care or individualized medical nutrition therapy. If you have specific medical or nutritional needs, consult your healthcare provider and share any relevant dietary instructions with Chefpost during booking.
Can the chef cook with my own ingredients instead?
Yes. You can book a cooking session where you provide the ingredients. Book the cooking session here.
