In-home cooking classes: frequently asked questions
What hosts ask us most before booking a class.
How much does an in-home cooking class cost?
In-home cooking classes start from $95 per person. The quote covers chef-led instruction, preparation, and the meal you prepare during the class. Price moves with the menu, the number of people cooking, and the ingredients involved.
Ask our concierge for a quote on your date.
How long does a cooking class last?
Most classes run two to three hours, including sitting down to eat what you cooked. Longer menus, such as fresh pasta from scratch or a multi-course meal, can run closer to four hours.
How many people can take part?
Classes work best with two to eight people cooking, because everyone needs counter space and a job. Larger groups are possible when the kitchen allows it, usually by splitting into stations. Tell us your headcount and we will match a chef who is comfortable with that size.
Do I need cooking experience?
No. Chefs teach to the room, from complete beginners to confident home cooks who want to sharpen specific techniques. Tell us the skill level when you book so the chef can pitch the menu correctly.
Who buys the ingredients?
Your chef handles the shopping and brings what the menu needs, including specialty items that are hard to source. Ingredients are included in most class quotes, and your chef will confirm this when the menu is agreed.
Can we choose the cuisine or the dish?
Yes, and it is the best way to book. Classes are built around what you want to learn, whether that is a cuisine, a technique such as knife skills or fresh pasta, or one specific dish you have never got right.

Can you accommodate allergies and dietary needs?
Yes. Share any allergies, intolerances, or dietary preferences when you book and the chef will build the menu around them. This matters more in a class than at a dinner, because you will be handling the ingredients yourself.
Does the chef clean up afterwards?
Yes. Your chef leaves the kitchen as they found it, which is one of the reasons an in-home class beats cooking a big menu on your own.
How far in advance should I book?
Give us at least 48 hours where possible, and more for weekend dates, holidays, and larger groups. Classes need menu planning and shopping, so earlier is always better.
Is a cooking class a good gift?
It is one of the most-requested gift experiences we handle, particularly for people who already have everything.
Chefpost gift cards can be put towards a class, and our concierge can help the recipient choose the menu and the date.
